Medical Update

Today, I saw the doctor about the results of a blood test I had last week to check for Ulcerative Colitis markers.   Yes, my C reactive protein marker was elevated, and the liver was flagged – usually I’m told to stop drinking, which is frustrating since I haven’t really had a drink in eleven years – but, this time, there was a surprise.    It seems I may have hypothyroidism.   So, now I have to go back for regular blood tests and, if the results show no improvement, they will look at treatment options, which, from what I’ve read, means another set of medications to take for the rest of my life.

It’s odd, because I don’t know of anyone else in my family, nuclear or extended, who has ever had issues with the thyroid.   My family does have extensive medical issues, covering most problems, especially cancer, but not the thyroid.  At least, not to my knowledge.

I really must stop seeing my GP; I don’t want any more health “issues“.

  1. I’ve known a couple of people with thyroid problems and they seem to find it only a minor annoyance. Nevertheless, I hope this turns out to be a false alarm in your case.
