Photographing Wildlife in Action

I brought my camera in tonight and uploaded the images from the weekend, when I attempted to capture wildlife on the move in the vain hope I might make something worthwhile to submit to the Countryfile photography competition for entry into next year’s calendar.

Well, the results were interesting to say the least.  I don’t think I’m cut out for wildlife photography, not unless someone can convince the animals to sit still for a few minutes, allowing me to change the settings on my camera, etc.   What I did get was two very interesting, artistic looking snaps of birds flying away.

The first is a crow who was still for a while, but when I wanted to capture him in flight, he was too fast.

Experimental Flight

This is of a pigeon, also trying to escape my attention.

Experimental - Free Flight

As can be seen, my ability to track movement is rubbish.  What’s worse is that at the end of the hour in which I played around with camera, my vision was blurry.   I guess I will have to stick to landscape shots.
